I tested 3 other transformers that I have, but none of them have the correct voltages.
I know I can use a variac but I really don't want to make a separate power supply for the clock. That would make it too heavy and too large.
I did think of a solution. I can use a choke input power supply rather than a capacitor input power supply. It looks like that will drop the voltage into a usable range.
I found a choke that is 15H 400 Ohm. I'll wire that up soon and give it a go.
I also got the wiring for the 74HC595s finished. Next I have to wire up the ribbon cables to the nixie sockets.
